![]() Commissioned by Constantine Roman Late Imperial Period Rome Constantine requested to create this arch -arch of Titus smaller than this and not as detailed- and this is considered to be the largest arch in Roman Empire history he really tried to emphasize his power through it edict of Milan - people can practice their own religion -this is from Constantine paragraph written on it, stated that the people and senate dedicate this huge arch to him for being amazing -They took different pieces from previous works and out them onto his arch- spoila SPOILA-pieces taken from older (previous monuments) -this is why its unique -emphasizing power - Vespasian -Trajan -Hadrian -Maxentius -Constantine Roundel-circular relief sculpture rondel taken from Hadrians monument (shows rational, classical Proportions) remade/copied by artist but the recreation shows less interest in ideal classicism head of Hadrian cut off did this to emphasize his power is the same as the more powerful emperors
